wannabe Software Developer, Engineer, Runner, Photographer and some other things in between...

Hello

Nice to meet you! Thank you for stopping by! Glad that you made it this far!

I supposed to come up with something creative here. Something that would grab your attention, nail it to this line and then keep pulling it as these words turn into sentences, sentences into paragraphs and the paragraphs into a great self intro page. At least I have a “secret link” on some pages/views throughout my website! Have you found it already?

Currently I am learning about backend software development at Turing School of Software and Design in Colorful Colorado. As I am getting deeper and deeper into everything Ruby has to offer. At the same time I have been already on the lookout for a new platform to rebuild my personal website. Then came the obvious: I figured what better way to proceed than combining the two efforts. So for now this is how I roll

In case this time I can keep up with my promise of regularly posting here, you should see
* writing about coding,
* photos whenever I get a chance to process some from my seemingly endless queue of “still to process” group,
* writing about my running,
* writing about random thoughts, but nothing to be scared about…

And I might even update this intro page once I dream up a better personal introduction. :-)

And to be sure, let’s give credit where it is due!

Credit:

  1. The Jekyll theme that I picked for my website is Jekyll Uno from Josh Gerdes. I made minor customizations to that theme, but the majority of Josh’s implementation is in place. I should come up with a blog post to summarize how I customized it in case anyone else would like to go down this path. Let me take a note of that!
  2. I prefer to host my own copy of the Google Fonts used. For that there is a very useful app online: Google Webfonts Helper. Made it very easy to get a copy of the fonts and update the CSS code accordingly.
  3. I have been looking for a well written photo album and I think I finally found one. PhotoSwipe is the name of the project and it has been developed by Dmitry Semenov. There is a GitHub repo that you can clone and do whatever your heart’s desire or check out the very detailed documentation and work with what is already readily available. Start at the PhotoSwipe demo site and work your way until you have your own gallery up and running! OR go ahead and see how my implementation turned out as I built my online portfolio on my Photography page.
